The EIP Water Conference 2017 and the Porto Water Innovation Week were held in Porto on 27-29 September, with over 1,200 participants from 60 countries, 118 exhibiters and over 70 speakers.
This event was the largest water event ever held in the city and brought together researchers, experts, businesses and all kinds of stakeholders to talk about solutions for the future of the water sector. Among the main topics of the conference, there were water’s importance for the circular economy, water treatment and management and innovation in the sector.
LNEC (Portuguese National Laboratory for Civil Engineering), SPI - Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação, IWW Water Centre, KWR Watercycle Research Institute, AQUATEC and EPAL were the BINGO partners present in the Conference. Additionally, both SPI and LNEC had a stand in the event.
BINGO was well represented in the exhibition area as well as in the group of speakers by two of our leading partners from LNEC who chaired two sessions of the event:
Maria João Freitas introduced an experiment in collective awareness on Wednesday, chairing the session on “Societal engagement as a driver for innovation and governance”.
Rafaela Matos spoke about cities and water on Thursday, giving part 3 of the “Water and the circular economy” session.
On the side-lines of the event, BINGO partners also attended the ''Boosting Research & Innovation in the Water Sector: The Impact of EU-funded actions'' event on Friday, 29 September. The EC/EASME session provided the opportunity to create synergies with further EU projects on the water sector.
